It is a great honor for me to contribute memories related to veterinary college, Parbhani for the magazine being published on the gracious occasion of college celebrating it’s Golden Jubilee Year.

Having missed the admission to MBBS barely by 6 marks, I was asked to go to Parbhani Veterinary College for pursuing B.V.Sc.&A.H. Degree. This was the first Independent journey to an unknown city. During the journey, I was thinking that I was made to pursue this degree course as a punishment for having failed to qualify for MBBS degree course. Later on, after completing my course I remembered very famous saying “whatever comes to you as opportunity, is the best.” I thank those 6 marks, in the absence of which I could serve the farmers by treating their livestock, a little contribution from me to economically poor strata of the society in general.

At the time of admission, I was astonished to see such a big campus of the Marathwada Agricultural university. I went to veterinary college for admission but some senior students took away my documents with them and prompted me to follow. I was depressed with their conduct however after offering K.M.T. (Khara, Meetha, Chaha) they returned my documents. So, this actually turned out to be a funny incidence and seniors were very kind and supportive to me during this academic journey.

Few days later, admission list was displayed on the college notice board and I was in the first 4 depending upon merit, I was awarded ICAR scholarship on this merit. Regular college was started within few days and to my surprise extremely talented group of professors was imparting knowledge to us. Most of them had international repute. Our Dean Dr. M.A.Gaffoor Sir was a very good-looking personality. He was often referred to as Dev Anand. He was a disciplined Dean of the college, constantly making us to concentrate on studies and telling us about huge opportunities ahead.

I take this opportunity to express my gratitude towards our elite professors viz, Dr. U. V. Shastri, Dr. M. N. Kulkarni, Dr. R. S. Deshpande, Dr. B.B. Deshpande, Dr. Pargaonkar, Dr. Abdul Samad, Dr. A. D. Deshpande, Dr. Bhokare, Dr. M.S. Deshpande, Dr. Kalyankar, Dr. K.S. Deshpande , Dr. Auradkar, Dr. Vadlamudi, Dr. P.D. Deshpande, Dr. Ganu, Dr. Qureshi, Dr. Sawant, Dr. Gaffar, Dr. Palimkar, Dr. Dakhore, Dr. Degloorkar, Dr. Gangakhedkar, Dr Baig and all other professors whose names have been missed here inadvertently.

We were being constantly made aware of the fact that we can have great career ahead provided we study well both on theoretical and practical aspects for the good impact at the field level.

The basics of Veterinary Science viz, Anatomy, Pathology, Medicine, Pharmacology, Physiology, Surgery were excellently imbibed within us so that no sorry figure be cut in the field. Examination pattern of the college, I think was at par with national level exams. I loved this pattern so much because one could succeed both in objective and subjective questions once he/she had mastered the subject.

I thank all mighty, my parents and elder siblings for their blessings and support which propelled me to reach at this position. The education at the college gave me a successful career professionally as well as stability in the life. I must thank my wife Vidya who never refrained me from doing my duties and stood by me regardless of the rural postings wherever I was serving during the duty. I have two sons and both of them are married. Now I am retired and I stay in Pune with my wife, sons, daughters-in-law and two grandchildren.

The college has imbibed certain values that would last forever. I never extracted additional money from farmers for their livestock’s treatment. The credit goes conjointly to the college and further being a son to a farmer. I was well aware of the economic condition of the farmer. I have treated many animals at the farmer’s home free of cost. Hence, I could earn lot of love from the farmers of respective areas wherever I served. I owe this love to my Parbhani Veterinary college. I take this opportunity to thank my all classmates, senior and junior students and office staff for providing fearless and encouraging academic environment.

Finally, few words about honorable present Dean of the college, Dr. Markandey Sir. A very lovely person, a true support during our batch get-together in February 2019. His friendly approach towards students impressed me a lot. I sincerely congratulate Dr. Markandey Sir and his team for their efforts in publishing the magazine on the occasion of college celebrating it’s Golden Jubilee Year.

I wish a grand success for the publication of the magazine and wish our college to become an Institution of International repute.
